Hawai'i Surveyor Virtual Training (December 11 – 12, 2020)

FEMA Region 9 in partnership with Hawai'i DLNR will be hosting virtual training sessions to discuss floodplain management principles, the NFIP, and Hawai'i standards.

Tools for Determining Base Flood Elevation (BFE), Letters of Map Change (LOMC) Basics, FEMA Map Service Center.

Friday, December 11th – 9am (2 hrs) Register Here

Training on methods for determining base flood elevation in AE, A1-30, and V Zones using the FIRM/FIS and other resources, including tips for developing BFEs for A Zones. An overview of Letters of Map Change will be given. This session will also demonstrate how to use FEMA resources like the Flood Map Service Center. This beginner training is recommended for those new to floodplain management.

Elevation Certificate Basics

Saturday, December 12th – 9am (2 hrs) Register Here

Section-by-section basics of the FEMA Elevation Certificate form, including building diagram selection, lowest floor, and common errors. Session demonstrates the proper way to complete the FEMA Elevation Certificate and best practices for using the EC in the floodplain development review process.


Seating is limited to 50 participants.
