A Big Mahalo to FEMA Region IX Flood Insurance Specialist, Edie Lohmann for taking time away from her busy schedule to lead a Flood Insurance Workshop here in Honolulu this past August for our local insurance agents, realtors, and lenders. Much Aloha also goes out to Hawai'i Independent Insurance Agent Association (HIIA), Executive Director, Chenise Blalock for sponsoring both HIIA and non-HIIA members with 3 Property & Casualty Subject Continuing Education credits for attending the workshop.
This is a dynamic time with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). NFIP stakeholders are paying close attention to Congress as the September 30th reauthorization deadline approaches. Meanwhile FEMA forges forward with major transformation with the program such as Risk Rating 2.0, which was briefly shared at our recent Hawai'i flood insurance workshop. Risk Rating 2.0 will fundamentally change the way FEMA rates a property’s flood risk and prices insurance. For more information on Risk Rating 2.0, download an “Overview Factsheet” and an “FAQ Factsheet“. Another way is to subscribe to our Wai Hālana blog to stay informed of up to date information and be notified first on when workshop and training opportunities will be coming to Hawai'i.
