TRUE OR FALSE?
Less that 25% of my proposed structure is encroaching within the SFHA, therefore I don’t need to comply with floodplain management regulations that require I elevate my house.

of Honolulu
FALSE: It is not the percentage of the structure in the SFHA, but whether the improvements are 50% or more of the building’s market value. If the project encroaches into the SFHA, it must comply with the county’s floodplain management ordinance.
Maui County
Compliance with flood regulation is only required when the proposed development occurs within the SFHA.
Kauaʻi County
Structures are regulated based on their flood zone. If a structure straddles multiple flood zones, the more stringent applies.
Hawai'i County
Compliance with floodplain requirements is only required when the proposed development occurs within the SFHA.
