Potential NFIP Lapse

Are you preparing for Hurricane Season?  Thinking about getting flood insurance? Well you may want to call your agent ASAP.  WHY?  This afternoon, Congress approved a 2 week extension (until June 14) of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which was set to expire and required reauthorization by 11:59 PM EST tomorrow (May 31, 2019) or risk a lapse in authority.  WHAT? does that mean: If the NFIP is not reauthorized, flood insurance will essentially be unavailable for purchase … new policies and renewals cannot be written during the program lapse. It is unpredictable to estimate how long a lapse can last.  It could be for a day, a week, a month, or longer.  Unfortunately, we don’t have control over that, it’s up to Congress … what you can do is call your insurance agent today, IF:
